March 2021 Allure Beauty Box – Full Refresh
March’s Allure Beauty Box is…interesting.
So, this month, Allure sent me another pricey serum – 111Skin Vitamin C Brightening Booster ($155) – but I haven’t used it, because I’m still using the pricey serum from February’s box. So is that what this box is gonna be now?
Also in this month’s box: Eyeko Double Act Shadow Stick (it’s hard for me to get excited about black and brown eyeliner pencils, but it DID come with a super cute sharpener); b.glen Clay Wash Mild Facial Cleanser (it works well, but smells weird – kind of vinegary); pixi by petra LipGlow Tinted Lip Balm in “Ruby” (I’m all about balms right now); Ahava Deadsea Water Mineral Hand Cream; and Mudmasky Serum-infused eye mask (nope, have not tried yet).
Not a bad box, but a very odd mix of products.
The Allure Beauty Box recently increased their price from $15 to $23/month. They also offer an option for $250/year – a savings of $26. Sign up via my referral link.
August 2020 Allure Beauty Box – On Balance
Allure Beauty Box wants to bring balance to my beauty routine this month.
I am never sad to get a rose scented product, but I am still not fully sold on facial oils. I have not yet been brave enough to try the Pixi Rose Oil Blend, but at the very least, I could use it to remove lipstick?
I have not tried the Sulwhasoo First Care Activating Serum yet either…but that’s because I’m really liking the Peach & Lily Serum from last month’s box – I use it every week day! Same goes for the Erno Lazlo Sea Mud Deep Cleansing Bar, Floss Brighten Up Highlighter in “Sunlit”, and the Looks & Meii Brightening Lift Up Perfect Fit Mask. I’ll get to them…
I HAVE tried the H2O+ Hydration Sensitive Gel Cream Moisturizer and the Whish Botanical Primer. They are both really nice products and gentle to my skin. Powder foundation sticks really well to the primer!
So…I’m going to have to make a decision about whether to keep Allure Beauty Box soon. I just got an email warning me that the price is going up to $23 with October’s box. The email promised more full size products, but I’m skeptical…they’re already on probation…
The Allure Beauty Box is $15/month, but they give you $5 off your first box. They also offer an option for $150/year – a savings of $30. Sign up via my referral link.
Target Beauty Boxes – June 2019
It’s no surprise that Target released His & Hers boxes this month – gotta get in on that Father’s Day action!
His box is themed “Dopp Kit Essentials” – I had to google “Dopp Kit” because I’d never heard that term before – it’s a toiletry bag for dudes. Inside this “Dopp Kit”: Crest Gum Detoxify Deep Clean Toothpaste; Bulldog Men’s Skincare Moisturizer, Face Wash & Shave Gel; Dove Men+Care Clean Comfort Antiperspirant; Gillette SkinGuard Men’s Razor; Old Spice Fresher Collection Deep Sea Invisible Solid Deodorant; and Head & Shoulders Old Spice Pure Sport Men’s Anti-Dandruff 2-in-1 Shampoo & Conditioner. Believe it or not, my husband kept only the toothpaste and Head & Shoulders – and gave the rest to my son. I guess he is my new recipient!
Her box, um, I mean MY box is themed “Jet-Set-Go” and contains: TRESemme Between Washes Volumizing Dry Shampoo (I need my work wife to come to my house and teach me how to use this shit); Pixi T-Zone Peel Off Mask (interesting); CND Vinylux Mini Duo Pack in “Romantique” (I am very skeptical of these at-home gel polishes, but I’ll give it a spin); Pantene Pro-V Intense Rescue Shots Ampoules Hair Treatment; and Herbal Essences Bio Renew Revitalize Cucumber & Green Tea Dry Shampoo (why the fuck did they put two dry shampoos in one fucking box???)
I feel like the His Box is a good value for $7, but I am annoyed that I paid $7 for the Hers Box. As usual, free shipping, 5% off with my Red Card and each one came with a $3 off $15 coupon. Again, the His Box has a scannable app coupon, but the Hers Box has an old fashioned coupon. Odd.
September Birchbox – Your Time to Shine
No curated box for me this month, I instead went for sample choice. I chose Daily Concepts Your Facial Micro Scrubber for my “Your Time to Shine” box. I don’t know that it will measure up to my Clarisonic, but I’m willing to give it a shot.
Also in this month’s box: Lollia by Margot Elena In Love Eau de Parfum (an old fashioned smelling floral – needs more rose for me); Briogeo Rosarco Milk Reparative Leave-In Conditioning Spray (unfortunately, the bottle opened during shipping and soaked the inside of my box – ugh); Pixi by Petra LipLift Max in “Honey Sheen”; and Lord & Berry Glow Strobing Pencil (interesting idea – I’m thinking this would be good for highlighting the inner eye).
Interesting box – only one repeat.

May Ipsy Bag – Summer Friday
Ooooooooh! More pink flamingos!
First off, you know I have those same glitter flamingo sunglasses – I bought them at Party City. I’ve never thought about putting them on a pineapple though.
…And then I saw the flamingo on Jelly Pong Pong Supercharged Super Intense Eyeshadow Duo in “Electric” (Yes, I get excited about a random brand of eye shadow just because there is a flamingo on the packaging). Also in this month’s super cute, clear, ice cream-covered bag: Urban Decay Cosmetics Afterglow 8-Hour Highlighter in “Sin” (never tried their highlighters before); Pixi by Petra Endless Silky Eye Pen in “BlackNoir”; Hey Honey Besame Mucho Lip Balm; and Luxie Beauty Luxie Dreamcatcher Precision Foundation Brush 660 (not a big fan of foundation brushes, but I’ll give it a spin).
Ipsy is getting their groove back!

Target Twelve Days of Beauty Faves
I’m playing a bit of catch up with December right now…or actually November. Yup, I ordered the Target Twelve Days of Beauty Faves Advent Calendar ($24.99) some time before Thanksgiving, although I waited until December 1st to start opening the windows. I meant to open one each day…but I kept forgetting and I had to hustle to open the very last window on December 31st.
Day 1: NYX Extreme Lip Cream in “Nude Peach Fuzz” (formula is great, but the color looks horrible on me – will be giving to my daughter)
Day 2: EcoTools Angled Kabuki Brush
Day 3: Sinful Colors “Silver Flash” (I don’t have this one!)
Day 4: Nexxus Comb Thru Finishing Mist
Day 5: ME! Bath Soap Bomb (I don’t have a bathtub in my new bathroom…meh.)
Day 6: Pacifica Kale Detox Deep Cleaning Face Wash (At least I don’t have to eat the Kale.)
Day 7: Burt’s Bees Lip Balm (I absolutely HATE sticking my finger in lip balm. I just won’t do it.)
Day 8: Mayfair Soap Foundry Body Creme in “Sea Lily Jasmine”
Day 9: Pixi Glow Tonic (Not sure how this oil “exfoliates”, but I’ll bite.)
Day 10: ACURE Day Cream Gotu Kola Stem Cell + CGF
Day 11: Umberto Dry Lifting Powder (Nope.)
Day 12: Laneige Sleeping Mask (This is MY JAM.)
As of this writing, the set is still available – at a discounted price of $14.99. I would have been much happier to have paid $14.99 for the set, as there are at least 4 products that I won’t use and plan to give away. I feel it was overpriced for what was in the set, although I was very happy about the Pacifica, Acure and Laneige products.
Target Beauty Boxes – June 2016
One for me and one my man…
My box was $10 and loaded to the gills: Pantene Expert Intense Hydration Shampoo (a HUGE bottle – but no conditioner!); SheaMoisture Fruit Fusion Creme Rinse (I guess I can use this with the Pantene Shampoo); Pixi Mesmerizing Mineral Duo in “Apricot Glow”; Laneige Water Bank Serum (love Laneige); S.W. Basics Exfoliant (Um, basically granola); L’Oreal Paris True Match Cushion Foundation in “Nude Beige”; L’Oreal Paris Revitalift Volume Filler Cream (what will I be filling with this?); Soap & Glory Righteous Butter Body Cream (yum); Yes to Cucumbers 10-count Facial Wipes (How many of these do I have now?); CoTZ Face SPF 40 (coming to Mexico with me); and e.l.f. Lip Kiss Balm in “Bare Kiss”.
His box was $5 and not nearly as full: Nautica Life Cologne (husband said NOPE); got2B Glued Spiking Glue (husband shaves head, son has long hair); Marlowe No. 142 Men’s Shave Gel; Axe White Label Night Body Wash; Old Spice Hardest Working Deodorant; Dove Men + Care Complete Care 2-in-1 Shampoo; Nivea Men Creme (moisturizer?); Schick Hydro Men’s Razor; CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser Bar (the box opened slightly and left soapy flakes all over the inside of the box); and Remington Beard Boss Beard Oil (husband said nope, but I’m gonna make him try it). With all these travel sizes, he’s ready to travel, too!
As always, I got 5% off with my Target Red Card and a coupon for $3.50 off any beauty purchase of $15 in each box. I also remembered to use the $3.50 off coupon from last month’s box – SCORE!
