What’s Your Favorite Scary Movie?

…mine is…wait, I have to pick just one? Dead Alive, no…Bride of Chucky, but what about Evil Dead II? Or is it Scream? Carrie, Midsommar, The Midnight Hour…too many to even list…

Danglefoot Nail Polish “What’s Your Favorite Scary Movie?” is inspired by one of those…Scream, of course. It’s a blue-toned black polish, with a red/maroon shimmer and silver holographic flakes. It’s from March’s Slumber Party Polish Pickup.

This is two coats of “What’s Your Favorite Scary Movie?” over Cuticula Mic Drop Base Coat in “Melt Down” and under Cuticula Limitless Top Coat in “Raspberry Pop“.

Welcome to Patience Colorado

I need to watch Season 2 of Resident Alien! Maybe after I finish Season 2 & 3 of Chucky and Season 2 of Interview with the Vampire…

Why am I talking about my backed up TV show queue? Maybe because Danglefoot Polish “Welcome to Patience Colorado” is inspired by Alan Tudyk’s wacky alien, Harry, from the SyFy Channel show, Resident Alien. Harry is obsessed with Law & Order and masquerades as a doctor in a secluded Colorado mountain town.

“Welcome to Patience Colorado” reminds me of “Karma Chameleon” a bit, but with a fine sprinkling of white microglitter. It’s like snowy alien skin! It’s from May’s Polish Pickup – It Came from Outer Space.

This is two coats of “Welcome to Patience Colorado” over Cuticula Mic Drop Base Coat in “Melt Down” and under Cuticula Limitless Top Coat in “Raspberry Pop”.

Polish Pickup March 2024 – Slumber Party

I shopped light during March’s Polish Pickup – I snagged just two polishes from the “Slumber Party” themed collection.

Dreamland Lacquer “Pink Pajama Party” ($13) is inspired by the pink pajamas that one might wear to a pajama party. It seems to be a great Barbie pink, but I admit – I was really drawn in my the brand name – Dreamland Lacquer. You know who else lives in Dreamland – besides me, of course? Babs Johnson…Dawn Davenport…Francine Fishpaw…Edna Turnblad…some really GREAT ladies.

Danglefoot Nail Polish “What’s Your Favorite Scary Movie?” ($13.50) is (obviously) inspired by the film Scream.

Beetlejuice Nails

My sister-in-law posted some really groovy Beetlejuice Nails on her Color Street page, so I had to do my own version…a combination of Color Street and regular polish…

Beetlejuice means black and white, but also purple and green. For the purple, I used two coats of Danglefoot Lacquer “Hair Raising” – I was just dying for an excuse to use it again. I almost used Alchemy Lacquers “Oddities” again, too – but I wanted a brighter green. I went with three coats of Sinful Colors “Sour Apple Killer” for the green. I even got an ant-spider-baby-skull! I used Glisten & Glow Ridge Filling Base Coat on the painted nails, topped the ant-spider-baby-skull with Glisten & Glow Glitter Grabber, and topped the painted nails with Glisten & Glow Top Coat.

I’ll never try to paint stripes again, as long as I have Color Street “Between the Lines”. I used Color Street “Swiss and Tell” for the white. One of the new sets I got was “Mi Cultura”, a floral overlay from the Hispanic Heritage Collection. I took a chance and placed “Mi Cultura” strips over a nail I had already painted with regular nail polish…it was ready to slide off my nail, but a thick coat of Glisten & Glow Top Coat glued that sucker down.

All in all, I think it turned out well…a few nails are a little sloppy and crooked, but would it be Beetlejuice without sloppy and crooked?

Hair Raising

It was so hard to choose which one to try, but I finally decided on Danglefoot Polish “Hair Raising” as the next polish to try from September’s Polish Pickup. “Hair Raising” is inspired by past hair disasters, and boy do I have a few! I love how the polish shifts from a fuchsia shimmer to bright blue in the sunlight!

This is two coats of “Hair Raising” over Vibrant Scents Double Bond Base Coat in “Island Petals” and under Vibrant Scents Top Coat in “Island Petals”.

I don’t think I’ll get to all five of them before Halloween…but it’s always a good time for spooky nails!

Polish Pickup September 2023 – Haunted History

I cannot remember the last time I spent $65 on nail polish…but I couldn’t resist September’s theme, “Haunted History.” I’ve got to celebrate Spooky Season!

Danglefoot Nail Polish “Hair Raising” ($13) is inspired by past hair disasters…I’ve had a few of those myself.

Sweet & Sour Lacquer “The Saw is Family” ($13) is inspired by The Texas Chainsaw Massacre…supposedly based on a true story, at least according to the kids in my daycare. (For those of you NOT from Texas, it’s not…Ed Gein notwithstanding.)

Alchemy Lacquer “Oddities” ($12.50) is inspired by the medicinal plant garden at the Mutter Museum in Philadelphia. I am intrigued. And it’s NOT red!

Baroness X “Bloody Mary, Bloody Mary” ($13) is inspired by…guess who…Bloody Mary.

Lilypad Lacquer “Haunted forever” ($14) is inspired by…an image on the web. Not sure which image, hmmmm…

I seriously had to limit myself to just 5…I wanted at least 15 other polishes. Which one should I try first???

Wooaaaaaah Pigeon on a Chair

Okay, last polish from June’s Polish Pickup…because July’s will be in my mailbox today or tomorrow!

This is Danglefoot Nail Polish “Wooaaaaaah Pigeon on a Chair”. I haven’t personally heard this particular misheard Bon Jovi lyric, but maybe it’s from across the pond? Danglefoot is a UK indie brand, so I never would’ve gotten my hands on it without Polish Pickup.

I am always attracted to turquoise/red combos, so this turquoise polish with red/black flakies and and an orange/pink shimmer was MADE for me.

This is two coats of “Wooaaaaaah Pigeon on a Chair” over Vibrant Scents Base Coat in “Island Petals” and topped with Vibrant Scents Top Coat in “Vibrant Petals”. I think it would look SMASHING with a matte top coat.

Polish Pickup June 2023 – Misheard Song Lyrics

I love a good misheard song lyric, don’t you?

June’s Polish Pickup theme is indeed Misheard Song Lyrics, and I had a hard time picking just one…or two…so I picked four!

Zombie Claw “I Wanna Have Boobies” ($13.50) is a baby pink polish inspired by Pussycat Dolls’ “I Wanna Grow Up”. I’m not keeping this one – it was a get well gift for a friend going through some boobie “stuff”.

Lucky 13 Lacquer “You Can Dance, You Can Die, Havin’ the Time of Your Life” ($11) is a red glitter mix inspired by ABBA’s “Dancing Queen”.

Danglefoot Nail Polish “Wooaaaaaah Pigeon on a Chair” ($13) is a blue glitter mix inspired by Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ on a Prayer”.

Last, but not least, Swamp Gloss “Revved Up Like a Douche” ($13.50) is a turquoise glitter mix inspired by Manfred Mann’s “Blinded by the Light”. Come on, we ALL sang douche instead of deuce!

Not a cheap order…but these babies are worth it!
