Gloomy Lotion
As cynical as I am, I’m a sucker for a new products. I’ve been wanting to get my hands on L’Oreal’s True Match Lumi Glotion Natural Glow Enhancer in “Fair” ($14.99). (In my head, I always think Gloomy Lotion). I’ve been really liking the GlamGlow Illuminating Moisturizer. The Gloomy Lotion doesn’t smell as good, but it does the job – I like it.
Since I had a 20% off coupon, I filled my cart with a few other things to get to $50. I also wanted to try Maybelline’s Total Temptation Eyebrow Definer Pencil in “Medium Brown” ($7.99). I’ve been loving on the Ulta Slim, but this one is a winner, too! It’t only about 2/3 the length, so it might not be such a good deal pricewise. I got a $5 off a future purchase from those brands for my purchase.
I also got refills of my SheaMoisture Peace Rose Oil Complex Shampoo and Conditioner ($11.49). It wasn’t on sale, but hey, 20% off. Speaking of rose, I also had to try out Philosophy‘s new scent – Amazing Grace Nude Rose ($20). It’s similar with Ballet Rose, but instead of notes of leather, there are green notes. It made my husband gag, so that’s a really good sign.
Oh, and thanks for actually sending me samples, Ulta! I got a cared with three different shades of Too Faced Born This Way Foundation and a card with samples of L’Oreal Revitalift Serum and Moisturizer.
Only $397.23 to get to Platinum for 2019. Chances of hitting Diamond status? At this juncture, I’d say highly unlikely.
Detour Treat
Driving back from Dallas on Saturday, I was actually paying attention to road signs and saw that all three lanes of I-45 were shut down. Fuck that, I detoured to I-35, which brought me through Hillsboro…and a Bath & Body Works Outlet…during their Semi-Annual Sale.
My primary target was $3 Wallflowers for my bedroom – I got 9 – that should last me a few years. I only grabbed two 75% off Hand Soaps – most of the scents were the same as my last trip. But I did come across a new line of body products to add to my bathroom – Pure Simplicity “Rose Water”. The Pure Simplicity line is 100% hypoallergenic, vegan and…gluten-free? Um…okay. Whatever, I bought Shower Gel, Lotion and Face & Body Refresher (regardless of what it said on the box, I’m pretty sure it’s just fragrance mist). I know I’m a sucker for rose scented stuff and this is another good one – so green and fresh smelling.
Lily wanted a Pure Simplicity Oil Rollerball in “Acai Berry”, so I bought it for her. Oh, and an extra bath poof – I gotta make sure I have extras. I had a $10 off $40 email, too. I feel like I need to go again though…
Love is Sacrifice
I already hit Rouge Status at Sephora for the year…so I don’t need to buy anything else…but they sent me a $25 off $50 coupon…what to do???
I have been eyeing the new Urban Decay Troublemaker Palette – but they didn’t carry it in the store I visited. (I was in store because I had accidentally bought a display tester for a gift – good thing I noticed before I wrapped it!) I must have walked a circuit around the store at least three times, eyeing different palettes and even testing a Tarte Tinted Moisturizer. Ultimately, I decided to use my coupon on a gift for someone I love. I shall not reveal more, lest he become suspicious…Looks like I’ll be ending the year at $1,071 spent at Sephora…
BUT…a new 500 pt set caught my eye – Kat Von D Beauty Addiction Volume 2! It includes Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in “Nahz Fur Atoo”, Lock-It Setting Powder (I’ve been wanting to try it), Tattoo Liner in “Trooper”, samples of “Saint” and “Sinner”, plus a tiny purse mirror. Yes, it absolutely was coming home with me!
Oh, and I also asked for a sample of Maison Margiela REPLICA Lipstick On. I just don’t have $126 to spend on perfume right now…
Thanksgiving Day Shopping
Oooohhh! My Thanksgiving orders came in at the end of last week! I didn’t even wait – I did all my ordering on Thursday. Shipping is definitely getting slower and slower.
Ulta was offering a free 9 pc gift with a $50 order, so you know I hit that shit. The only thing I really needed was another Ulta Ultra Slim Brow Pencil in “Dark Brown” ($10), everything else was just extra.
I do, however, think I’ve found my “forever” shampoo and conditioner – SheaMoisture Peace Rose Oil Complex Nourish & Silken Shampoo and Conditioner (normally $11.49, but on sale – buy one, get one 40% off). This is the scent I’ve been waiting my whole life for – rose shampoo and conditioner! And it makes my hair feel AMAZING. So soft and so shiny. It’s pricey, but I’m not even mad. This is THE ONE.
Oh, I ordered some other small odds and ends for the kids’ stockings. One of those things got me a free sample of Seche Vite! I’ve been wanting to try it for ages.
The free 9 pc bag was full of Ulta goodies: an eyeshadow palette (love the purpley colors), a highlighter palette, a blush brush, a double ended eye liner – “plum” and “blackout”, a Matte Lip Crayon in “Soiree”, an eye liner sharpener, Tinted Eye Primer in “Satin Blush”, and Color Rush Lip Gloss in “Olivia”. Oh, and a $5 off $15 coupon for Ulta products.
I was only a little annoyed that my sample pack was not included in my order.
I also got my Victoria’s Secret order. Someone always ends up with one of their robes as a gift from me – shhhh…don’t tell!
No one wants to see a pile of bras, so I’ll stick to the important stuff.
Since all the lippies were on sale for $8, I added one to plump up my order – I gotta get that free tote bag! I got a Velvet Matte Cream Lip Stain in “Perfection”. Yeah, they transfer onto anything and everything, but they still last all day on my lips.
$2.50 Hand Soap
I used to get excited about $2.95 Hand Soap at Bath & Body Works. But it had started happening often enough that I didn’t go every single time…but this past Saturday, I got an email about $2.50 Hand Soaps. And not just the usual collection – ALL Hand Soaps, even the fancy $7.50 ones.
The limit was 15, so I bought 15. I let Lily pick a few for her bathroom and I picked out the rest. I was excited to try some of the new styles – Exfoliating hand soaps, Aromatherapy Collection Hand Soaps, and Honey Butter Collection.
In addition to the $2.50 sale, I had a mailer with a $10 off $30 coupon AND a free body item – I let Lily pick out a Body Wash. My receipt said I saved $90.50 – it sent chills down my spine.
Adult-ish
I love to wash my face. Like a lot.
I only needed one face wash, but since I wanted to use my $3 off $15 coupon (from this month’s box), I went ahead and bought three.
I’ve used the Biore Baking Soda Cleanser and Neutrogena Deep Clean Cleanser before – they’re good, solid cleansers. TheΒ L’Oreal Paris Pure Clay Cleanser – Detoxify & Brighten is a new one – and it is AMAZING. I was expecting it to be green clay, but it was black clay. It feels really good on my face AND it smells very high end. There are two others in the line – I want to try them, too!
OH…and this cute “Adult-ish” shirt – I couldn’t resist it.
Rouge for 2018
This is it, the tiny purchase that pushed me over the goalposts for Sephora Rouge!
I had gotten a tiny sample of Sephora Matte Perfection Powder Foundation ($20) last week, so I decided to try a full size while I still had my 20% off. I picked a lighter shade – “16 Cool Linen” after a good 10 minutes of swatching on my arm.
I also decided to pick up another Kat Von D Beauty Everlasting Glimmer Veil Liquid Lipstick ($22), this time in “Rocker”, a sparkly orange with gold glimmer. I had a hard time deciding, there a pink and a black that I also want.
Since I purchased in store, I was able to get my Rouge Gift – aΒ VIB ROUGE PRO Mini Flawless Airbrush #56.5. It’s for cream or liquid foundation – I haven’t tried it out yet…but soon.
So that’s it, $1,000 for the third year in a row. What will 2018 bring?
Farsali Unicorn Essence
Remember that unicorn stuff that everyone was slapping on their face earlier this year? I bought some!
I bought the small size (.34oz) of Farsali Unicorn Essence Skin Enhancing Antioxidant Serum ($20). I noticed the smaller size when I was in the store, but since they were out of stock, I ordered online with my 20% off code.
I’ve been using it as a primer for several days and so far, I haven’t noticed the slightest difference in how my makeup lasts. It has no effect on my pores, but my skin does feel very soft while it’s on. It smells wonderful and the scent lasts all day…if you’re into having a face that smells like cotton candy. I won’t say it’s a horrible product, but it’s certainly not something I’d buy again. It doesn’t seem to do much except make your face smell good. I’d say there’s a reason that this product hasn’t been seen in any Influencers’ repertoires lately. Now that Sephora is carrying the brand, there’s no need to pay the Influencers for placement?
I got some decent samples with my order: Kat Von D Lock-it Makeup Setting Mist; Bvlgari Aqva Pour Homme Atlantigve (it smells like old school Aqua Velva, like my dad used to wear – a big ole NOPE); and Algenist REVEAL Concentrated Color Correcting Drops (you can either add to your makeup product or use directly on your face…hmmmm).
Only $22 to ROUGE…
Full Advantage
I didn’t take last Friday off, just so I could go to Sephora…but since I was off…I decided to take full advantage of my 20% off code…and go to Sephora.
In addition to a buttload of Xmas shopping (shhhhhhh!), I picked up Kate Somerville EradiKate Daily Cleanser Acne Treatment ($38) and EradiKate Acne Treatment ($26). I haven’t found anything that compares to this sulfur wash and my deluxe sample is almost empty.
The one mistake I made was my timing. The closest Sephora is across the street from Cinco Ranch High School…and damned if I didn’t show up right as school let out. The whole store was asses to elbows with high school girls…and they were all putting makeup directly on their faces – don’t they know that’s how you get herpes???Β Fortunately though, the high school girls weren’t buying anything – no line to check out. As I mentioned earlier, I remembered my Sephora Play! card for 50 extra points and I splurged 100 points on a deluxe sample of Kate Somerville Wrinkle Warrior 2-in-1 Plumping Moisturizer + Serum. I’ve already tried it and it’s fantastic, but I’d be hard pressed to pay $95 for a full size! I also got a sample of Sephora Matte Perfection Powder Foundation in “26 neutral sand – sable” – I hope the shade is a match! Oh, and the Tote Bag – the whole reason I decided to go in person instead of ordering online…
I really did try to get to Rouge on this trip, but I just couldn’t make it happen…only $38 left to go though!
I Remembered!
Guys! Guess what! I remembered to use my $3 off coupon from this month’s Target Beauty Box!
I had a nasty, nasty breakout last week, so I went looking for a face wash with sulfur in it. It was a total fail, so I guess I’ll have to break down and pay $38 for EradiKATE. Ugh. Sulfur WORKS THOUGH guys…in the meantime, I went ahead and decided to try Shea Moisture African Black Soap Clarifying Face Wash & Scrub ($9.99). I’ve read good thing about it online, so I thought I’d try it.
I also picked up Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Moist ($2.99),Β which I got a sample of in a box back in my June box. My son uses it, so I thought I’d try it out – it makes my hair feel like doll hair! It says to use it once a week, but I dunno…it might get used every time I wash my hair.
Oh, and I can’t run out of my Dip-its and cotton rounds – gotta have ’em.
I ordered the November box yesterday…another coupon is coming.
